Thankfulness is a Verb

Worship Moment

Words of Wisdom

I’m thanking you, God , from a full heart, I’m writing the book on your wonders. I’m whistling, laughing, and jumping for joy; I’m singing your song, High God. Psalm 9:1-2 MSG

Meditation Moment

Lord today I live my gratefulness out loud. I walk in my gratitude and offer your grace and love to others as witness. I choose to honor your goodness despite my wretchedness.

Gratitude is not a passive ackowledgement. It is a soul stirring, hand raising, heart moving experience. Shifting your focus from lack, scarcity, unkindness and despair to that of thankfulness, can actually alter your psychological state.

The old folks used to say… “When I think about Jesus, and all he’s done for me. When I think about Jesus, and how he set me free, I can dance, dance, dance all night.” When David recovered the Arch of the Covenant, and in a real sense- God’s Favor he praised The Lord so hard he danced out of his clothes. When reproached for his audacious praise by his wife Michal, David responded, “Oh honey, I was dancing and praising in the presence of God. I can get even more undignified than this”! 🙌🏿

And in scripture Jesus told those gathered, that my Father will be praised! “And if these won’t, the rocks will cry out!” When you consider all that you’ve been through, how dare you offer your Savior, the creator of everything, your lil raggedy, cute, PC praise?

How can you contain the joy and rapture flowing within when you truly give account for all the Lord has brought you though, blessed you with, protected you from and promised for your life?

Thanksgiving is a verb, an action word!

Does your heart not swell with the simple thought of his favor? I’m thanking you, God , from a full heart, I’m writing the book on your wonders. I’m whistling, laughing, and jumping for joy; I’m singing your song, High God. Psalm 9:1-2 MSG

Prayer:

Dear God
Thank you Father for putting up with our ungrateful selves! We whine and cry and walk past the masterpiece of nature you create for us daily. We grumble, complain and covet the blessings and fruit of our neighbor, unaware of the cost of the oil in their alabaster jar. We hold each other to an unreasonable standard, then ask you to overlook all our shortcomings.

Lord forgive us. Father forgive me for alllll I take for granted. Today let my voice of praise waft like a sweet sounding fragrance into the heavens. Lord shift my focus from what others think of me to where would I be without you. Today I choose to see all that my hands and heart have hold of through your loving kindness.

Your daughter,

Déitra

Affirmations
